Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
13. Missouri Tigers, 3-1 (0-0), Lost to Indiana Hoosiers 31-27 Last Saturday
Dropping the Missouri Tigers this low might seem a bit unfair to them, but let’s face it. Next to Vanderbilt they have the worst loss of anybody in the SEC. Indiana is not a good team. Don’t forget that they lost to Bowling Green the week before, and then Bowling Green got destroyed by Wisconsin the next week. The Tigers had no reason to lose this game, and that’s what drops them all the way down to No. 13 on this list.
Gary Pinkel’s squad finally showed its deficiencies this year on defense. The Tigers allowed Tevin Coleman to rack up yards on the ground and as a receiver on them, and the offense also had way too many drives stall going up against a really bad defense. Missouri could be in serious trouble going to SEC play because simply allowing Indiana to be in that game was as bad as it could get. The Tigers have lost lots of talent all over the field, and it finally showed last Saturday. They still have no quality wins on their schedule, but they had looked great in their wins up until Saturday. Maty Mauk still looks good, but having drives stall against Indiana is a terrible look.
