Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
12. Tennessee Volunteers, 2-1 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday
The Vols have lots of young talent all over the field, and they look like they’re finally on their way back to being great. In fact, one of the pleasant surprises that should not have been a surprise at all for anybody who follows Tennessee closely is that the defensive line has not been much of a problem for this team up to this point. But with the 34-10 loss to Oklahoma still fresh in their minds, there is a reason they are so far down on this list right now: the offensive line.
The young line embarrassed themselves at Oklahoma two Saturdays ago, and that’s going to be a major question for this team going forward. It’s a little unfair because the line is so young and had to go against a great defensive scheme, and the Sooners have a great front seven, but it looked so awful that there’s a major concern of how the unit will hold up against SEC defenses. Honestly, the rest of the team is good enough to compete and possibly get up to 10 wins in SEC play, but the line is so inexperienced right now it raises lots of questions about the Vols.
