Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 4

1. Oklahoma Sooners, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated West Virginia Mountaineers 45-33 Last Saturday

After three blowout wins to start the season, the Oklahoma Sooners have proven themselves as the top team in the Big 12 for right now thanks to a very good win this past weekend over West Virginia. Samaje Perine has emerged to challenge Bryce Petty as the greatest offensive threat in the conference.

The Sooners’ blowout win against Tennessee the week before is also better than anything Baylor has achieved so far this year, so they have earned the right to have the No. 1 ranking for right now. They now have a bye week coming up.

The biggest question for Oklahoma is consistency at quarterback. The running game is even better than advertised, but throughout the season Trevor Knight is going to eventually have to come somewhat close to living up to that offseason hype, even if that hype is undeserved. If he doesn’t Oklahoma will be exposed in a couple of Big 12 games. That hasn’t been an issue yet, though, and the quality wins are enough to keep the Sooners at No. 1 for right now.

Expect Oklahoma and Baylor to fight for this top spot throughout the season until they meet for a potential epic showdown on Saturday, Nov. 8.
