Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 4

9. Iowa State Cyclones, 1-2 (0-1), Idle Last Saturday

Coming off a bye week, the Cyclones still look much better with a win over Iowa two weeks ago, especially since the Hawkeyes upset the Pittsburgh Panthers on the road this past Saturday. And it’s worth noting that a close loss to Kansas State is not a bad loss in anyway. Neither is North Dakota State when you consider how good that school has been the past few years.

But the Cyclones are still 1-2 and have a loss to an FCS school Even if it is a great FCS school, an FCS loss always looks bad. And the win over Iowa can still be questioned to a degree. The Cyclones have serious issues they need to work out on offense.

With the passing game ranked 92nd in the country and the rushing attack ranked 116th in the country, this offense has looked pathetic through three games. The defense wasn’t much better, but it at least showed up in the 20-17 win over Iowa. The Cyclones hopefully have corrected things over their bye week, but Baylor is not a welcome game to play coming off of that. For now, they have hardly given any reason to prove they belong above the No. 9 spot.
