Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 4

7. Texas Tech Red Raiders, 2-1 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday

The Red Raiders have not looked good through three games this year, but 2-1 is 2-1. And it’s not a Kansas-style 2-1 because the wins are slightly better. But after getting blown out by Arkansas a week later and then having a bye last week, there are some serious questions about this team.

Kliff Kingsbury has got to answer those questions for this team going forward, or they won’t be able to move too far up this list. An air raid offense meant for putting up lots of points and winning high-scoring affairs shouldn’t result in only being 60th in points per game so far this year.

Texas Tech’s offense has to look as pretty and exciting as the coach running the program when he is shirtless. A Thursday night game at Oklahoma State this weekend is a chance to get that started, but it’s also a chance to raise further questions about this team. If they at least keep this game close, we’ll know more about this team, but if they lose in another blowout, we’ll start to have significant concerns.
