Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 4

7. Arizona Wildcats, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated California Golden Bears 49-45 Last Saturday

Well, at least we know one thing: the Arizona Wildcats have an incredible offense. When you’re averaging 365.8 passing yards a game and 228 rushing yards a game, that’s a balanced attack en route to loading up on offensive stats. Clearly Rich Rodriguez’s system is working.

But perhaps the Wildcats could make winning look a little bit easier. Each of their last three wins against Texas-San Antonio, Nevada, and Cal have been by 3 points, 7 points, and 4 points respectively. And we all know how much luck they needed to pull out that victory against Cal with the last-second Hail Mary.

Simply put, for right now the Wildcats are by far the worst undefeated team in the Pac 12. The defense is playing poorly enough to keep everybody in games, and that’s going to have to change as Pac 12 play continues throughout the season. The first test comes this Thursday night with a road game at Oregon. As bad as the Wildcats defense has been, will it be good enough to keep the Ducks in check? Can they gain respect in the game? We’ll find out soon enough.
