Saturday Blitz Blitz Points Winners Week 5

10. Ameer Abdullah, Running Back, Nebraska Cornhuskers (Defeated Illinois Fighting Illini 45-14)- 22 Carries, 208 Yards, 3 Touchdowns

Putting somebody among our Blitz Points Winners after a 45-14 victory is not something we’d seem to do, but Ameer Abdullah can’t be ignored right now with what he’s doing for Nebraska. With his third game with more than 200 rushing yards just this season, he is racking up numbers that make him a Heisman frontrunner on an undefeated team right now. Nebraska could be the team that saves the Big Ten and makes the playoff. Abdullah would be the reason for that.

Similar to Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon, Abdullah is a game-changer and has allowed Pelini to simplify his offense dramatically, where he only needs to find a way to get Abdullah the ball. It’s not like he had a game-changing play Saturday in what was a blowout win, but he’s the reason the game was a blowout and not close. He also has played so great that he’s got to be mentioned somehow.

Putting up 208 yards and 3 touchdowns is remarkable even if it is against Illinois’s defense, and having more than 200 yards for the second straight week and three times in five games is simply too great to ignore. For that, Abdullah is our final Blitz Points winner for Week 5 of the college football season.
