Blitz Points: College Football Top Performers From Week 5
Saturday Blitz Blitz Points Winners Week 5
3. Todd Gurley, Running Back, Georgia Bulldogs (Defeated Tennessee Volunteers 35-32)-28 Carries for 208 Yards and 2 Touchdowns, 4 Receptions for 30 Yards
Todd Gurley right now is the most valuable player in college football. He’s also the top candidate for Heisman right now after the way he played on Saturday. The Dawgs are clearly a one-man show, and that one man is at running back, of all positions. With a suspect defense and absolutely pathetic quarterback play, Gurley is the only thing going for Georgia right now. And he could be enough to win this team a championship.
On Saturday, Gurley racked up 208 yards and 2 touchdowns and Vols fans are actually pleased with how their defense plays. That should give you an idea of just how great of a running back he is. Tennesseeans are aware that you can’t stop him the entire game, and no matter what, he is going to get his numbers.
And with the lead and the ball and a chance to run out the clock, Mark Richt rolled the dice and put the ball in Gurley’s hands to convert a fourth down play that sealed the deal. Of course, Gurley came through, showing again that he’s the best player in the NCAA right now.
