See if Alabama Kept its No. 1 Status in Week 5 SEC Power Rankings
Following Week 5 of the college football season, still nothing has changed: the SEC is the toughest conference. Furthermore, the SEC West is far and away the tougher division.
We still haven’t had enough information to be able to fully distinguish the difference among many of the schools, though. All we can say for certain is that while the SEC West is certainly loaded, the SEC East looks a little bit like a joke. Honestly, that division is so wide open right now that Tennessee or Kentucky could win it.

But there could still be some good teams in the division as the season plays out. Or things could take a turn for the worst for the division. Of the top 7 teams in the conference, six are from the SEC West, and you could make a strong case once again that the entire SEC West belongs in the top half of the conference. It’s that bad of a disparity.
And honestly, the fact that the SEC East could still be a good division makes it that much scarier how amazing the West is. Finally, though, this week we’ll be able to really start distinguishing between the teams in each division. There are six conference games, and all of them are divisional games, while three of them are games between teams in the Top 15. By next week, these rankings could change dramatically.
But the West will still be better. So here are our Week 5 SEC Power Rankings, knowing that a major storm is about to come to completely rearrange them this Saturday.
