Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 5

3. Auburn Tigers, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 45-17 Last Saturday

Auburn looks as good as it looked last year, and the blowout conference win against Arkansas to start the season looks a lot better now as well. The Gus Malzahn offense looks as hard to stop as it ever did, and the defense is beginning to look very good as well. This team hasn’t done anything to fall down the ranks of the SEC elites.

The Tigers also can’t be criticized for that win against Kansas State. Were they supposed to blow out one of the better Big 12 teams on the road? Of course not. This is a team that now has two quality wins and has earned its status back among the top three teams in the conference. Honestly, as the reigning SEC champions, it could be slightly disrespectful not to put them at No. 1 in the conference. A Top 20 defense and a Top 20 scoring offense hints that they might be better than last year.

How good this team is will show on Saturday with another tough game, as the Tigers get LSU at home. This is a revenge game for Auburn, who lost to LSU last year, and if they win this one they have a strong case to be the top team in the conference.
