Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 5

11. Tennessee Volunteers, 2-2 (0-1), Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 35-32 Last Saturday

Even in a loss, it’s easy to see that this Tennessee football team is improving quickly under Butch Jones. There is a lot of talent on the team, despite being young, and we are starting to see that they can compete with anybody when things are going right. It took an injury to their quarterback for the drives, a fluke fumble in the end zone that gave up a touchdown, and an amazing game by the best player in college football for the Vols to lose on the road against the best team in the SEC East right now.

But with two wins against bad teams and two losses against great teams, the Vols have yet to prove where they really stand. That changes this weekend with a chance to finally end the losing streak to the hated Florida Gators.

Tennessee fans probably feel like they have the talent to the point that they actually should win the game this year, despite losing nine straight, but that streak is hanging over their head so badly you just don’t know what will happen. If the Vols want to start moving up this list, a win Saturday is crucial. Florida is almost a must-win for them this year to get to a bowl game.
