Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 5

8. Arkansas Razorbacks, 3-2 (0-2), Lost to Texas A&M Aggies 35-28 in Overtime Last Saturday

What a tough loss for the Razorbacks. Playing in Texas against such a good team, you can obviously make a strong case that they should be even higher on this list. How can you lose to one of the top teams in the SEC in overtime and still be at the bottom?

Because as much as they impressed people by taking a 14-point lead in the game, they also raised lots of questions by blowing that lead. The defense folded when it was needed most, the running game could not keep up the dominance it was pitching against the Aggies, and the passing game still doesn’t look like it can carry the team if the running game falls apart. And the running game showed late in the game and in overtime that it can definitely fall apart, which is a major cause for concern going for.

Arkansas has still surprised people with how good they actually are this year, but they are going to have to prove a lot more to move up this list. They still don’t have a major quality win on the schedule, and their record still puts them as the worst team in the SEC West. But that might be enough to eventually keep them in the top half of the conference.
