Top 25: SEC West Still Dominates Saturday Blitz College Football Rankings
25. Marshall Thundering Herd, 4-0 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
This is an automatic slot. The Thundering Herd are undefeated right now, and honestly they have looked as good as any team in college football through four games. So without even playing this past week, we have decided to put them into the Top 25 because they made it to 4-0, despite playing a very easy schedule.
24. Stanford Cardinal, 3-1 (1-1), Defeated Washington Cougars 20-13 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
The Cardinal have earned their way back into the Top 25. Washington should not have been an easy win, so pulling it out in a dogfight is not a reason to criticize Stanford. It’s defense showed it is still dominant, and the offense is back to being efficient. That’s a good combination that bodes well for the rest of Pac 12 play.
23. USC Trojans, 3-1 (2-0), Defeated Oregon State Beavers 35-10 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
Like the Cardinal, the Trojans have earned their way back into the Top 25. Coming off of a bye week, this team showed its ability to rebound with a very nice win against an Oregon State team that does have a very good offense. USC is now 2-0 in the Pac 12, and that Boston College loss looks more like a huge fluke now.
22. Kansas State Wildcats, 3-1 (1-0), Defeated UTEP Miners 58-28 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
The Wildcats looked great in a blowout win over the weekend against UTEP, but there are still questions about this team’s depth, especially on defense. Still, it’s only loss is a close one to an Auburn team that is supposed to be great this year, and at 3-1 they have nothing to be ashamed of, so they belong in the Top 25.
21. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 3-1 (1-0), Defeated Texas Tech Red Raiders 45-35 Last Thursday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
The Oklahoma State Cowboys first gained respect and impressed pollsters by playing Florida State close. Now, they’ve gained lots more respect by actually winning a few games. Texas Tech was a great win last Thursday, and now standing at 3-1, they have proven enough to be in our rankings for right now.
