Top 25: SEC West Still Dominates Saturday Blitz College Football Rankings
20. Arizona Wildcats, 4-0 (1-0), Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 21
The Arizona Wildcats didn’t play last weekend, but they still have done enough to be in our Top 25. Undefeated with a Pac 12 win on the resume already and two other quality wins, however close, is impressive and puts them in better position right now than their in-state rivals. But whether or not they can keep it up remains to be seen.
19. TCU Horned Frogs, 3-0 (0-0), Defeated SMU Trojans 56-0 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: Not Ranked
Well Utah may have let a lot of people down over the past weekend, but here is a former mid-major that looks like it’s showing lots of respectability in the Power Five so far after struggling the first couple of years. TCU is undefeated right now, so don’t sleep on this team as a Big 12 contender throughout the season.
18. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 4-0 (1-0), Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 22
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were able to move up four spots without playing a game, but that undefeated record is enough to keep them gaining our respect for right now. Virginia Tech may have been overrated, but that’s still a quality win that stands out over what many of these teams have on their resumes right now.
17. Michigan State Spartans, 3-1 (0-0), Defeated Wyoming Cowboys 56-14 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 19
The Michigan State Spartans are continuing to show that they could still be a legitimate contender by the end of the year, but the problem so far is that they don’t have any real quality wins to speak of. Still, Oregon was a tough loss, and they have blown everybody out aside from that game. Wyoming is no mid-major pushover either.
16. BYU Cougars, 4-0, Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 20
The BYU Cougars could belong higher on this list because Virginia is looking like it was a quality win, and Texas could turn out to be a decent win itself. BYU has a great rushing offense and has been managing to pull out wins so far, enough to keep them in the Top 20 for our college football rankings.
