Top 25: SEC West Still Dominates Saturday Blitz College Football Rankings
15. Wisconsin Badgers, 3-1 (0-0), Defeated South Florida Bulls 27-10 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 16
The Wisconsin Badgers could easily be 4-0 right now if not for a terrible passing game in the opener against LSU. But they have blown out everybody else on the schedule, including a decent Bowling Green team. This makes them one of the top teams with a loss in the rankings right now since the loss wasn’t bad and the wins are decent. And they look even more dangerous with Melvin Gordon back there.
14. LSU Tigers, 4-1 (0-1), Defeated New Mexico State Aggies 63-7 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 15
So it looks like Les Miles’s LSU Tigers set out on a mission to redeem themselves against a very easy cupcake team after such a bad loss the week before. But that’s honestly not fair. Yes, the Tigers lost to Mississippi State last week, but they are still a good team, and Wisconsin is still a very quality win. That game is enough to keep them high in our Top 25 for right now.
13. Georgia Bulldogs, 3-1 (1-1), Defeated Tennessee Volunteers 35-32 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 18
The Georgia Bulldogs had a great weekend after pulling out a win against Tennessee and then seeing South Carolina lose to Missouri, putting them back in the SEC East driver’s seat. Although they struggled to put away the Vols and needed some luck, Tennessee could be better than many people would have thought. And Georgia still has that quality win against Clemson…and Todd Gurley.
12. Nebraska Cornhuskers, 5-0 (1-0), Defeated Illinois Fighting Illini 45-14 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 9
How things change so quickly! Three weeks ago Nebraska was the laughingstock of college football after struggling with McNeese State. Fast-forward to now, and you have a team that is still undefeated with a superstar running back nearly halfway through the season. The Hukers dropped in our rankings this week but only because other teams have earned a jump in the rankings. They’re still very good.
11. Ole Miss Rebels, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Memphis 24-3 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 10
The Rebels picked up a good win against Memphis last week, and now it’s time for them to get a quality win. This looks like a complete team so far, particularly on defense, but it hasn’t won any real game yet to earn a Top 10 ranking. That obviously has a chance to change this weekend with a game against Alabama.
