Top 25: SEC West Still Dominates Saturday Blitz College Football Rankings
10. Baylor Bears, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Iowa State Cyclones 49-28 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 11
Baylor still doesn’t have a major quality win on the schedule, but they’ve annihilated all of their opponents so bad that they pass the eye test to be in our Top 10. And Iowa State has turned out to not be too bad of a win despite being 1-3 after it played Kansas State close and then beat Iowa. It’s enough to put them at No. 10 for right now.
9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 4-0, Defeated Syracuse Orange 31-15 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 8
Don’t look now, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are undefeated and right in the thick of the college football playoff race once again with a very young team. Everett Golson looks as good as any quarterback in football right now, and after the win against Syracuse, it’s clear that this Irish team is a force to be reckoned with. They only dropped, like Nebraska, because other teams deserved to rise.
8. Oklahoma Sooners, 4-0 (1-0), Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 7
The Oklahoma Sooners had a great win against West Virginia two weeks ago and then a well-deserved bye week before beginning the heart of Big 12 play. This team looks way more dangerous than it did to start the season not because of Trevor Knight but because it has now found an offensive weapon in Samaje Perine. Everybody else beware, because this guy looks dangerous.
7. UCLA Bruins, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Arizona State Sun Devils 62-27 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 12
The UCLA Bruins finally put together a complete game. After drawing questions from analysts because their first three wins were all by one possession only, the Bruins saved their best performance for their toughest game. Everything came together against Arizona State, and now this team looks more complete than we even thought at the beginning of the season. So watch out.
6. Auburn Tigers, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 45-17 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 4
Auburn looks like it’s not going anywhere. After pulling out a close win at Kansas State, a game the Tigers have gotten too much criticism for, they blew out Louisiana Tech this past weekend, showing that they are still the complete team that made it to the national championship last year. Don’t ignore this team for 2014 either. It looks just as good if not better, especially on defense.
