Alabama’s Blake Sims likely to play against Ole Miss

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Blake Sims is coming off the best game of his career.

In a 42-21 victory over the Florida Gators on September 20, Sims completed 23-of-33 passes for 445 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Unfortunately, Sims injured his shoulder in the game. Sims has continued to say he’s banged up and sore but overall is “very fine.”

From listening to Tide head coach Nick Saban, it doesn’t look like Sims is in danger of missing Saturday’s showdown between the third-ranked Tide and the 11th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels.

“Blake has done really well in practice,” Saban said on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference via Andrew Gribble of AL.com. “He hasn’t had any issues this week so far in terms of being able to throw the ball. We’re really pleased with the way he’s progressed. He’s been able to take all the reps he’s prescribed to take. We’re pleased with that.”

If he can’t go, Florida State Seminoles transfer Jacob Coker would get the start.

The Tide and Rebels will kick-off at 3:30 pm EST Saturday and the game is on CBS.
