Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 5

3. Wisconsin Badgers, 3-1 (0-0), Defeated South Florida Bulls 27-10 Last Saturday

Wisconsin fans should be pulling their hair out over the fact that they are not 4-0 right now. This team is scary, and it showed once again over the weekend as the Badgers blew out South Florida and could have won the game by more if they needed to. After last week’s ridiculous blowout against Bowling Green, this team looks good heading into Big Ten play.

Melvin Gordon has as much of a case for being a Heisman candidate as anybody in college football right now, and once again he showed up strong last Saturday with 181 rushing yards. Unfortunately, right now he may not even be the best back in his own conference, but he’s right there. Cory Clement is also useful as another back. The Badgers also look like they have found a passing game with Tanner McEvoy at quarterback, as he has shown dramatic improvement over his first, awful outing against LSU.

If the offense can be a bit more balanced, this is the Big Ten favorite right here. Nebraska is at home, and in the greatest stroke of good fortune ever, they get Maryland and Rutgers from the East. And Maryland, the tougher team, is the home game. There’s no reason for the Badgers to be anything worse than 10-2 by the end of the season.
