Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 5

5. Miami Hurricanes, 3-2 (1-1), Defeated Duke Blue Devils 22-10 Last Saturday

The Miami Hurricanes have finally found something. It actually started last week against Nebraska, when Brad Kaaya proved that he could actually throw the football well against Nebraska. If he could cut down on his turnovers, the offense and team as a whole would look great. That happened against Duke, as Kaaya had 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

And with that, the Hurricanes put together a complete performance to beat a team that was supposed to be one of the best in the ACC. Kaaya’s play allowed Duke Johnson to rush for 155 yards, and it kept the defense out of bad situations, allowing them to pin their ears back and play tough football against a pretty decent Duke offense. Al Golden’s young team took a huge step over the weekend with Kaaya’s play, and that now makes for a much better team than the one that took the field just last week.

Now, with a trip to Georgia Tech, Miami has a chance to make a huge statement and very quickly move up this list. And don’t forget that Virginia Tech and Florida State are later down the road, so this team has a few big games left to prove what it can do. Last Saturday’s game should make Hurricanes fans excited about them.
