Miami, Clemson Rise in Week 5 ACC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 5
1. Florida State Seminoles, 4-0 (2-0), Defeated N.C. State Wolfpack 56-41 Last Saturday
Sorry, we’re not changing from this. It may have only been against N.C. State, but the Florida State Seminoles once again showed just how good they are when things matter. We are not going to drop them down our rankings after a 15-point win on the road in a conference game to a team with a winning record simply because they were losing that game at one point.
Jameis Winston was able to prove that more than just having intangibles, he has a group of incredible receivers that can make plays for him and bail him out of bad throws. The Seminoles also showed to have a very good rushing attack that makes for a very balanced offense, and that’s very good news considering the struggles the running game had up to last Saturday. Florida State’s defense may have struggled, but the group did stiffen late in the game and only allowed 3 points in the fourth quarter. It’s still a loaded unit.
The Seminoles have done absolutely nothing to fall down these rankings, and about the only thing they showed over last weekend is they definitely play down to their opponents. It looks as if they’re coasting by, knowing they are too good to slip up before the college football playoff, but with Notre Dame, Louisville, Virginia, and Miami still on the schedule, not everything can be fun and games. FSU will have to begin taking things seriously very soon.
