Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 5

14. Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 2-3 (0-1), Lost to Louisville Cardinals 20-10 Last Saturday

As we said at the beginning of the year, this likely won’t change for the entire season. Wake Forest is in a brand new offense that will never be able to get anything significant going under first-year head coach Dave Clawson. All they have to look forward to is the future under him. But there are some bright spots.

The Wake Forest defense is clearly pretty good. So far this year it’s only given up 20.2 points per game, and that’s a little bit skewed after they gave up 36 points to Utah State. Also, the offense does have a little bit of a passing game, even if the rushing offense is terrible, so that could help salvage some of the damage of Clawson’s first season. Perhaps these are the ingredients to steal a couple of wins, but it won’t be easy.

And it certainly will be hard with Florida State coming to town this weekend. However, Boston College and Syracuse come to town next week, so perhaps they have a great chance to steal a victory in one of those games.
