Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 5

10. Kansas Jayhawks, 2-2 (0-1), Lost to Texas Longhorns 23-0 Last Saturday

This part is not even a question. The Jayhawks even agreed after the 23-0 loss to Texas and made sure to fire Charlie Weis only a third of the way into the season. With Clint Bowen as the interim head coach, this program has obviously conceded this season as a complete and total loss, and with good reason.

Despite actually being 2-2, this is a terrible team whose two wins came against Southeast Missouri State by 6 and Central Michigan by 14. Who cares? This offense has been pathetic, with an offensive mind coaching it, and the defense hasn’t been much better. When you’re averaging 15.3 points per game and giving up 25.5 points per game through the easy part of your schedule, then you are in serious trouble. That’s the case in Kansas right now.

And after playing Texas, the schedule isn’t getting any easier. With West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Baylor all up next, it is very hard to see this team turning the season around. Things are only going downhill, and they’re going downhill fast for a program in disarray.
