Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 5

7. Oregon State Beavers, 3-1 (0-1), Lost to USC Trojans 35-10 Last Saturday

The Oregon State Beavers were proven to be a decent, actually good, Pac 12 team on Saturday in their loss to USC that still is in no position to compete with the elite teams of the Pac 12. But we knew that going in for the most part.

The Beavers have unfortunately, though, been a bit of a disappointment in the passing game this year, with Sean Mannion only throwing 4 touchdowns this year and barely averaging more than 250 yards a game. That’s not what they wanted with the rushing numbers and defense still as bad as we expected them to be. Oregon State is 3-1, but going forwards the passing has got to improve if this team is going to make any noise.

Having Colorado and Utah up next on the schedule along with Cal down the road should give the Beavers a chance to get to 6 wins, and Arizona State is a great chance for another win on the schedule, but they will actually have to have a passing game to win all three games, and after that they’re going to have to pull off some upsets to show marked improvement.
