The Washington Huskies are trying to become a recruiting power under first-year head coach Chris Peterson.

Peterson made a habit of finding hidden gems from the west coast when he ran the Boise State Broncos’ program. Peterson believes he may have found another on Thursday when 3-Star weak-side Myles Rice gave his pledge to the Huskies.

However, this gem is not from the west coast. The 6’2.5, 215-pounder is from Richmond, Texas and attends Bush High School.

“Blessed to say that I am now committed to play college football at the University of Washington,” Rice tweeted.

Richmond, who chose the Huskies over the Houston Cougars and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, is ranked as the country’s 88th-best weak-side defensive end prospect, the 274th-best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 1,972nd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
