Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 6

California Golden Bears at Washington State Cougars

Line: Washington State by 3

Here comes a game between two teams that are incredibly hard to predict. On one hand, you have the California Golden Bears, who should be 4-0 right now and have surprised everybody with how good they are. But the defense has looked flat-out pathetic, and it’s been the offense and Jared Goff that has kept teams in games. With a game against Washington State Saturday, Cal’s offense just needs to keep doing what it’s been doing. And the defense needs to step up somehow. This is been a very bad group so far, and Mike Leach’s air raid offense is not the best way to correct things, but the secondary had better improve incredibly quickly if it wants to win this game.

Washington State, meanwhile, is the unpredictable team on the other side that changes your opinion of them week to week. They were supposed to take another step forward under Mike Leach this year but fell to 0-2. Then they played Oregon tough and beat Utah on the road and now have improved to 2-3 and look like they could make a bowl. Doing that would have to start with a win Saturday. The Cougars simply need to throw the ball all over the field against the week Cal secondary and avoid turnovers from Connor Halliday to get the win. If the defense can somewhat show up, this game should be in their favor.

Prediction

This looks like another shootout in the making, and that’s going to benefit Washington State. If you’re ready for some basketball, tune into this game Saturday night. California will put up a high-scoring affair with the Cougars, but the Golden Bears don’t have any secondary to ever come away with any stops against the Leach air-raid system, and it is what is going to do Cal in.
