UCF vs. Houston Live Stream, Game Info
This is a battle between two American Athletic Conference teams trying to salvage highly disappointing starts to the season despite high expectations. The UCF Knights appear to be sorely missing Blake Bortles at quarterback, as Justin Holman is averaging less than 200 yards a game at the position and only has 4 touchdowns on the season. A close loss to Penn State in the opener followed by a blowout loss to Missouri has raised significant questions about this team. But the Knights have a great chance to change all of that this weekend when they play Houston. UCF’s defense is going to have to show up to win this one, as it’s been the one decent part of the team. But there’s no science for the offense. It just has to play better all the way around.
The Houston Cougars started out as a massive disappointment after losing to Texas-San Antonio 27-7 to open to season, but after blowing out Grambling and UNLV and playing BYU close, this team appears to have found its rhythm. Still, with lots of hype surrounding John O’Korn at quarterback to start the season, the passing game has only averaged 221.5 yards a game, and O’Korn has only 6 touchdowns to 6 interceptions, showing that he appears to have regressed from last year after expectations of dramatically improving from his freshman campaign. This was supposed to be the Cougars’ way of competing for the AAC championship, and it will come down to that for the team Thursday night. The passing game has to show up, and the defense has to force the Knights to play as poorly as they’ve been playing on offense to get back to a winning record at home.
