SMU Mustangs at No. 22 East Carolina Pirates

Here’s a battle between two AAC teams, one that has been a surprisingly very good mid-major and another one that has been an incredibly heavy disappointment.

East Carolina might have the best mid-major quarterback in Shane Carden. The Pirates will want to use him a lot over the weekend to make sure they get a comfortable conference win. Everybody else has put up points on the Mustangs, if Carden’s going to build his profile, then now it’s his turn. He especially needs to do it to prove the Pirates belong in the Top 25.

SMU, meanwhile, is a program in terrible disarray. The Mustangs are ranked out of the Top 100 in every statistical category, and now they’re in coaching turmoil as well. So what do they need to pull out a victory on Saturday? Lots and lots of miracles. The Methodists had better be strong in their faith, because a few favors from God is what’s going to be seriously needed to pull out the victory Saturday. It is incredibly unlikely.
