Saturday Blitz Week 6 Blitz Points Winners

1. Mike Bercovici, Quarterback, Arizona State Sun Devils (Defeated USC Trojans 38-34 Saturday)

27 of 45 for 510 Yards, 5 Touchdown, 0 Interceptions

While it is certainly true tat Jaelen Strong deserves a ton of credit for his 202 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, the guy who got him the ball also deserves credit in Arizona State’s huge upset win at USC on Saturday. Mike Bercovici has done a tremendous job filling a role he was not expected to fill on a regular bass this year coming into the season.

With Taylor Kelly still out due to a foot injury, Bercovici gave the Sun Devils fans lots of hope about 2015. Not only did he throw for 510 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. He also came up the biggest when it mattered most. With Arizona State down 34-25 and less than 3 minutes to go, Bercovic connected with Cameron Smith for a 73-yard touchdown to make the game 34-32. He then led the game winning drive, where before the Hail Mary he had converted a 26-yard pass to set it up.

Sure, the Hail Mary was luck, but one lucky play doesn’t get you to 510 yards. Lots of great plays gets you to 510 yards, and that’s what Bercovici deserves credit for doing. He’s still a backup quarterback when Kelly gets healthy, but he at least showed that he will be ready to go when his number is called.

And that is god enough to make him our final Blitz Points winner for Week 6 of the college football season. If you thought we missed any college football top performers from the week, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
