Ranking Week 6 College Football Upsets

3. No. 11 Ole Miss Beats No. 3 Alabama 23-17

This one is shocking in every way. Despite all the hype surrounding this game, with College Gameday coming to Oxford, Katy Perry in town, and everybody believing, anybody who saw the Rebels up until Saturday could not have honestly believed in them. They had not beaten anybody relevant and struggled in two first halves with Boise State and Memphis.

Meanwhile, Alabama appeared to have finally found its rhythm two weeks ago with Blake Sims in its dominating win over Florida, and the defense was still great. So what OBJECTIVE (key word) fan or analyst honestly thought Ole Miss would be able to pull out the victory? You’re lying to yourself if you were sure it would happen.

Bo Wallace looked completely overrated before Saturday, and the only thing we had to go on was the fact that the Rebels had looked like a true SEC defense to that point. But they looked more like an SEC defense Saturday. The most shocking part of all of this is just how good Ole Miss actually is.

Questions about Wallace? Try 251 Yards and 3 touchdowns with 0 interceptions passing against a great Alabama defense. Not sold on the defense? Try holding the Lane Kiffin-led offense to less 400 yards of total offense and forcing 2 turnovers. And when it mattered most, Ole Miss, not Alabama, came through in the clutch with Senquez Golson’s incredible interception against Blake Sims. Yes, this team has proven it’s the real deal, and nobody believed in them beforehand,  despite the high rankings. Well, we believe in them now.
