Gary Patterson’s hailed track record of great defensive teams put on another show Saturday, holding Samaje Perine to less than 100 yards rushing after more than 200 two weeks ago. Trevone Boykin looks like a great dual-threat quarterback as well, so this is turning into a complete team that could beat anybody in the Big 12.

The Horned Frogs have finally gained respect as a Power Five team after struggling for a couple of years in the conference. With a Top 10 defense and a Top 15 offense that has played a tougher schedule than Baylor, we have enough ammunition right now to rank this team higher than anybody in the Big 12.

TCU Horned Frogs (4-0)

Last week: Defeated Oklahoma Sooners 37-33
Last rank: 19

You may call this crazy. And then I will ask you why. Seriously. Why? Why shouldn’t the Horned Frogs be No. 7, ahead of Baylor, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State? At 4-0, this team is undefeated just like Baylor, and it has a better quality win than anybody else in the Big 12 that also gives it a head-to-head advantage after beating Oklahoma. So we’re not backing down here.
