Saturday Blitz Week 6 Big Ten Power Rankings

Maybe it was unfair to drop Iowa four spots after not playing. But simply put, other teams deserved to jump them. Iowa was No. 6 by default last week in our power rankings, and there are other factors that made us decide to vault other teams. If they don’t like it, then they can start winning to move up.

Jake Rudock has played efficient at quarterback for the Hawkeyes, not doing much to win but not really losing the game either. However, he has no help from the running game right now, and it’s been the defense carrying this team to victory. Currently, the Hawkeyes have the No. 16 ranked scoring defense in the country, allowing just over 17 points per game, and that helped them beat Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Ball State. But the lack of offense cost them against Iowa State.

At 4-1, the hard part of the schedule for this team is about to begin in the incredibly weak Big Ten West. Indiana is a winnable game at home, but they follow that with a trip to Maryland, games against Northwestern and Minnesota, and Nebraska and Wisconsin to end the season. All of those could be losses if the offense doesn’t improve.

And with no impressive wins on the resume right now, especially given Pittsburgh’s recent struggles, we decided to drop this team to No. 10.
