Saturday Blitz Week 6 Pac 12 Power Rankings

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. The Wildcats may be the luckiest team in college football after the Hail Mary against Cal and the personal foul call that helped them against Oregon. But by hook or crook, they are the only undefeated team left in the Pac 12 and beat Oregon on the road. That’s enough to put them at the top of these Pac 12 Power Rankings, and it is impossible to argue for any other team in the conference.

Arizona’s trio of Anu Solomon, Nick Wilson, and Cayleb Jones added a fourth guy last Thursday in Terris Jones-Grigsby, a second running back. That completes a balanced offense that is averaging 40 points per game right now. The defense isn’t bad either, only allowing 26.6 points per game, and there’s something to be said about holding Oregon to only 24 points. Rich Rodriguez has built a great team in Arizona, and they are rightfully ahead of everybody for the Pac 12 championship right now.

This team still has to consistently prove the win last Thursday wasn’t fool’s gold. Despite 2 losses already, USC will be a good test for that this weekend, and UCLA, Washington, Arizona State, and Utah, are still on the schedule. So we’ll find out very soon how real this team is.

But what we’ve found out so far is they’re the only undefeated team left in the Pac 12, they beat who many people believed to be the best team in the Pac 12, and they are standing above the rest of the conference. For that they deserve this no. 1 spot.
