Saturday Blitz Week 6 Big 12 Power Rankings

Unlike the two schools below them, Texas Tech is unfortunately probably a pretty good team but is the odd man out as far as winning goes. The Red Raiders have yet to look good this year, with two ugly wins to open the season and two blowout losses to Arkansas and Kansas State. Their only claim to fame right now is not getting blown out by Oklahoma State.

Kliff Kingsbury’s air raid offense appears to be fine with Davis Webb throwing for more than 300 yards a game, but the Red Raiders are giving up 40 points a game, and a true air raid should be 400 passing yards, not 300. The yardage isn’t turning into points either, with Texas Tech averaging less than 30 points a game. That’s the last thing you want to happen when you are running an air raid and banking on your defense giving up a lot of points.

At 2-3, there are still possibilities for Texas Tech, but they have to beat Iowa State, Texas, and Kansas, and then they somehow have to pull off an upset against West Virginia, Oklahoma, Baylor, or TCU. Winning any of those games could be extremely hard.

And right now, these Red Raiders are worse than all four of those teams. That’s why we have them at No. 8.
