Saturday Blitz Week 6 Big 12 Power Rankings

Mike Gundy’s got a great team right now. The Oklahoma State Cowboys’ only loss is a 6-point opening Saturday night loss to the Florida State Seminioles. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, and since then, they have rolled over everybody they have played. It’s time to take this team seriously.

The Cowboys replaced Clint Chelf easily with J.W. Walsh. They then replaced Walsh, who went down with an injury, with Daxx Garman. This team and system simply makes quarterbacks thrive, and that’s a testament to the program that is run here. The offense is good no matter who it loses or who starts at quarterback, and this team right now is averaging 39 points per game in the process. The defense still has some issues, but in this high-powered offensive system, it’s likely to surrender some points simply due to being on the field a lot.

Oklahoma State looked a little bad in its 37-20 victory over Iowa State, but they are still a great team. With Kansas up next, this team should make it to 5-1 after this Saturday, setting up a showdown between them and the TCU Horned Frogs next Saturday. This team is right in the thick of the Big 12 race.

The game against TCU will give us an idea of exactly where these Cowboys belong right now.
