Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Predictions Week 7

Duke Blue Devils at No. 22 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Line: Georgia Tech by 3

While Louisville-Clemson is the game of the week, this one actually might have bigger implications down the road as to who wins this division. Duke is looking to recover after losing to Miami two weeks ago, and who better to do it against than the undefeated Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, a team who blew them out last year? The Blue Devils need Anthony Boone to play consistent to win this game, but they also have to find a way to stop that Georgia Tech Triple-Option offense. It torched them last year for a 38-14 victory despite the Blue Devils winning the division, so they need to find a way to stop it.

Georgia Tech, meanwhile, simply needs to keep going to the well. Justin Thomas has executed Paul Johnson’s offense perfectly, and he can actually throw the ball when he needs to as well, making for a much deadlier offense than the triple-option offenses of the past. Thomas just needs to make sure he doesn’t turn the ball over, and the Yellow Jackets should be fine on offense. On defense, they need to focus on forcing Boone into making mistakes and keying in on him. Doing those things should allow this team to pull out a victory in front of their home crowd.

Prediction

Georgia Tech is going to keep making noise as they move to 6-0. The Yellow Jackets simply match-up perfectly with Duke, a trait they would have even if they weren’t good. Now that they are, there is no way they will even come close to losing this game at home. This will be a big enough win to gain them some national respect finally.
