Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 7
Washington Huskies at California Golden Bears
Line: California by 3.5
The Washington Huskies missed out on all the fun last week with a bye. Now, they get to play the team that has been nothing but a staple of Pac 12 fun over the past few weeks. It seems like anything could happen with Cal. One week they give up a Hail Mary for a loss. The next week they win a 59-56 two-overtime game. Then they rally for a basketball type win in beating Washington State 60-59. Two things are clear about this team: it plays no defense, and it goes as quarterback Jared Goff goes. The Golden Bears have to go for that again this weekend. Washington is different from the other types of teams they have faced, but the defense can still be a bit suspect. Cal should do everything it can to go right at that unit and see if Goff can rack up more crazy stats. He’s got Cal on the rise already, and this would be another huge signature win.

With the First Pick
Washington, meanwhile, is coming off a bye week after a heartbreaking loss to Stanford. Still, after looking sketchy in its first two games, Chris Petersen’s squad looks like it could do a lot of damage to a lot of teams over the next few weeks. This team plays football the way Stanford and Utah do. And it’s going to want to do that again Saturday. Cal has a weak defense all around, so the best chance for the Huskies to win on the road is to go with Lavon Coleman. A lot of Lavon Coleman. They should focus on staying on the field with him and having Cyler Miles make efficient passes, which he’s done all year. If they can do that against Cal’s weak defense, that will keep the high-scoring offense off the field, which works heavily in Washington’s favor. Petersen needs to have his team focus on keeping the offense on the field and taking care of the football.
Prediction
Like Stanford, Washington’s style of play works in its favor in a game against a team like Cal. The Huskies are going to pull out the win on the road. Their rush offense is too great, and Miles, although he hasn’t racked up a lot of stats, may be the most efficient quarterback in college football. With that going on, Cal’s terrible defense won’t be able to get off the field. It’ll keep the offense out of rhythm, and Petersen’s team will move to 5-1.
