Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Predictions Week 7

Indiana Hoosiers at Iowa Hawkeyes

Line: Iowa by 3

This is a battle of two Jekyll and Hyde teams, making it nearly impossible to predict this game. The good Indiana showed up last week, but unfortunately it was only against North Texas. Does that mean the bad Indiana will show up this week? Possibly. The Hoosiers have relied heavily on a dominant running game with Tevin Coleman, but the biggest key to their success has been quarterback Nate Sudfeld. Sudfeld was awful in the loss to Maryland and not good enough in the loss to a very bad Bowling Green defense. We knew the Indiana defense was bad, so Sudfeld is going to have to come through as the running game will for a road win against Iowa.

  • The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, are somehow 4-1, but we can’t figure out why. This team has no offense to speak of. Fortunately, the defense has been there to pick up the slack, and that’s going to have to continue this weekend against a great Indiana offense. The Hawkeyes have to be able to do just enough on offense to take advantage of the bad Hoosiers’ defense, but if they let the Indiana offense get going, then it won’t matter. The match-up to watch out for is how Iowa’s secondary handles Nate Sudfeld when Indiana decides to pass. If they stop him, they win. If not, they lose.

    Prediction

The bad Indiana is showing up this weekend. Iowa will have its way with Nate Sudfeld, forcing him to make bad throws all night. Coleman will put up yards, but it won’t be enough. The Hawkeyes pull out a solid home win, propping them into the race to win Big Ten West as well.
