San Diego State Aztecs at New Mexico Lobos
Here is a battle between two Mountain West Conference teams trying to get their season going. This game could determine how it plays out the rest of the year. The San Diego State Aztecs are coming off a tough loss to Fresno State, and through five games this year, one things is clear. They have no passing game. Quinn Kaehler was bad enough. Nick Bawden was worse. To beat New Mexico on the road, they need to stick with their running game in Donnel Pumphrey. If Pumphrey does what he’s capable of, then the Aztecs will get the victory on the road because the defense isn’t bad.
New Mexico, meanwhile, is San Diego State in a more extreme way. They have absolutely no quarterback play, but the rushing attack is great, ranking No. 5 in the country with more than 300 yards per game. In order to win this game, the defense is going to have to show up like it did last week.
