Washington State Cougars at No. 25 Stanford Cardinal
This game could easily be a blowout, but it depends on which Washington State team decides to show up. Actually, it depends on where luck decides to go. The Cougars have gone 1-2 in their last three games, but they all could have gone either way. Connor Halliday will be looked to again to throw for another 500 yards and a few touchdowns, but it’s going to be tough against a good Stanford defense. Also, the Washington State defense doesn’t need to be great, but it needs to at least get a couple stops. That would help the Mike Leach-coached offense out a lot.
Stanford simply needs to play efficient Stanford football, mounting long drives and using Kevin Hogan to make timely passes that keep the ball in the hands of the Cardinal. David Shaw’s team has lost two games with their own style of play so far this year, and they should be undefeated. But Washington State doesn’t fare well playing Stanford’s game, so they should simply do the same thing to the Cougars in order to come out with a major rebound win after last week’s debacle.
