Saturday Blitz Vegas Big 12 Predictions Week 7

No. 16 Oklahoma State Cowboys at Kansas Jayhawks

Line: Oklahoma State by 20.5

Don’t look now, but Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys are 4-1, 2-0 in Big 12 play, and just as much in the mix for the Big 12 championship as anybody. A trip to Kansas this weekend gives them a great chance to move to 5-0. The formula? Simple. Daxx Garman. Garman has filled in for J.W. Walsh at quarterback and the offense hasn’t missed a beat. Last week was his worst game of the year, and the Cowboys still pulled off a 37-20 win. But let’s get some insurance. Oklahoma State should hope for him to have a 300-yard 3 touchdown game and make sure the Kansas Jayhawks never threaten.

  • The Jayhawks, meanwhile, are still a team in massive turmoil after firing Charlie Weis. Clint Bowen hasn’t got much to work with, especially in the passing game. So their best chance is to stick to the ground game. Oklahoma State has a little bit of a suspect defense, so there is a chance Kansas could move the ball and limit the number of possessions Mike Gundy likes having in a game if they focus on running the football. Corey Avery and De’Andre Mann have been the only bright spots for this team at running back. If Bowen sticks with them, they have a slight chance.

    Prediction

That slight chance that Kansas is going to have is meaningless. Sure, Kansas will attempt to run the ball a lot and limit Oklahoma State, but it won’t matter. The Cowboys will score early, often, and quickly throughout the game, and the Jayhawks won’t be able to keep up. Oklahoma State runs away with a blowout win.
