Saturday Blitz Blitz Points Winners Week 7

player. 57. 28 of 55 for 510 Yards, 6 Touchdowns; 10 Carries for 23 Yards (Defeated TCU Horned Frogs 61-58. Quarterback. Baylor Bears. Bryce Petty. 3

It’s safe to say that Bryce Petty played his way back into the Heisman race on Saturday. After playing inconsistent at times throughout the season so far this year and our respect for Baylor falling due to the cupcake schedule they had played up until Saturday, AND with the fact that Petty has been injured still fresh in everybody’s mind, everything we feared about this team appeared to have come to fruition late in the fourth quarter.

The Bears had dug themselves into a 21-point deficit, down 58-37, and Petty had 4 meaningless touchdowns along with 2 interceptions. He had just thrown an interception returned for a touchdown to dig that hole. We were ready to be done with him.

Then came the last 11 and a half minutes. Petty completed 6 straight passes for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading his team back to a tie game 58-58. The first drive was all running plays to cut the lead to 58-44. But the next two drives were all about Petty, and he is the reason they came back and won the game.

Baylor is definitely a great team with lots of talent, but the reason behind that comeback was Petty. He did enough to be a Blitz Points Winner and play his way back into the Heisman race. Props to him.
