Saturday Blitz Blitz Points Winners Week 7

Defensive stars can be great playmakers as well, and the Duke Blue Devils have one in safety Jeremy Cash. Cash did everything on Saturday in the Blue Devils’ upset of Georgia Tech, from recovering a fumble to getting an interception to putting up 7 tackles. How could you not support Cash as a Blitz Points winner after that?

What also matters is when the big plays happened. Cash’s fumble recovery was at the start of the third quarter, with Georgia Tech driving and only down by 2. That set up the Blue Devils to score another touchdown for a 2-score lead. Then there was the interception. That happened in the fourth quarter with Georgia Tech down 24-12, and Cash returned it to the Georgia Tech 23 to set up the touchdown that gave the Blue Devils a 3-score lead. That touchdown also ended up being the difference in the game.

So the play of Cash is what made the difference for the Blue Devils in their upset win over the Yellow Jackets Saturday. The redshirt junior who transferred from Ohio State and sat out the 2012 season has certainly solidified himself as a valuable player in this Blue Devils offense.
