Miami Hurricanes: The Most Pathetic Fan Base in All of College Football
The official attendance for the Miami Hurricanes-Cincinnati Bearcats game Saturday was 43,953 people. Does it look like that here?
How about here, when the game actually started?
Nope. Let’s call it what it is. The Miami Hurricanes just have bad fans. It should be noted that while it looked like there were less than 1,000 people there, if you want to exaggerate and throw out the 43,000 number that’s fine. It’s still barely half the stadium.
Miami fans simply don’t care about their 3-3 team. They rarely ever have cared about their team.
This is the most fairweather, bandwagon, pathetic fan base in all of sports. Yes, you read that right. The Miami Hurricanes are an embarrassment.
They don’t deserve to have a rich history of winning. They don’t deserve to ever return to winning. Their fans don’t appreciate it. There are at least 100 FBS schools, and probably a few FCS schools, that would appreciate winning more than these bandwagon fans.
Yes, the Lakers, Yankees, Red Sox, Cowboys, and a host of other teams are loaded with bandwagon fans. But they also have a strong base loyal fans. Miami has hardly any.
Oh, you fake Hurricanes fans can throw the “street-cred” of the school in my face all you want. I enjoyed the ESPN 30 for 30 on the program. You can talk about “The U,” throw it up all day with your players in the NFL, and brag about that glamorous lifestyle of playing with the Hurricanes. Please, tell me more about that glamorous lifestyle, you know, where nobody comes to watch you play. Where nobody really cares if you win or lose.
If I was a blue-chip athlete, I would never go to Miami. Why would I want to go to a place where the fans never care? Even when Miami was winning in the early 2000s, they weren’t selling out games. What’s the draw to the school as a college athlete? Being in a place like Miami?
Well, if you’re truly a star athlete, you have plenty of time to chill in a city like Miami after you make your millions by going to the NFL. But for a college lifestyle, I want to be on a campus where fans adore me everywhere I go. Or criticize me depending on how I play.
And that’s the twist in this.

If you perform well at Miami, nobody is going to care. But lucky for you, if you perform poorly, nobody is going to care either. Miami is a program for mentally weak players now who don’t want to have to deal with the pressures of playing with an elite program. You can’t be elite when your fans don’t give a flip about what you do. South Beach is where you go to run from pressure.
I’ve always said Atlanta is the most pathetic sports town in America, but Miami is very close. And the Hurricanes are the most pathetic fan base by far.
Any real fan would realize that Al Golden, by the way, is slowly improving the team after it nearly fell off the face of the Earth due to probation. The program is getting better, and it’s exciting to watch an improving program.
Did you expect Golden to immediately win once the Hurricanes got off probation despite being hamstrung in recruiting? Wait, what am I saying? These are Miami fans. They probably had no idea the team was on probation to begin with.
