Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 7

Hey, they keep saying a win is a win, right? To be fair to Florida State, it’s got to be hard to keep winning when you’re the defending national champs and you play such a weak schedule that’s hard to get up for while every team on that schedule gives you their best effort. That’s what these Seminoles are going through, and they’re still undefeated, so give them a little credit. But now the fun begins.

Florida State has Notre Dame this weekend, a clash of two Top 5 teams, in a chance to prove just how dominant they are. Then they have a week off before a Thursday night road game against Louisville. So if you’re a Seminoles fan, there are plenty of reasons to be excited now. No excuse for not getting up for the next two games.

Jameis Winston’s issues continue to be a distraction for this team, unfortunately, with his new autograph scandal. But Rashad Greene has honestly been the star of the offense to this point, and he needs to keep it up. It’s Greene that has been able to bail Winston out of quite a few bad throws, and if he keeps playing the way he’s been playing, Florida State will be just fine regardless of the distractions. He’ll be needed heavily over the next two weeks. The defense needs to continue to step up and play well also.

After these next two toughest games left on the schedule, though, things aren’t going to get much easier. Virginia and Miami follow, and those are both very good teams capable of catching the Seminoles if they’re napping too heavily. Follow that up with Boston College and Florida, two bowl teams who could upset anybody, and the times for Florida State taking days off are over.

They’ve earned their spot as the No. 1 team in the ACC. Now they have to go out and prove it.
