Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 7

Here’s some good news: Wake Forest didn’t play last weekend. That means Dave Clawson’s team couldn’t lose. The Demon Deacons are by far the worst team in the ACC, and it’s not just obvious because of their 2-4 record. They haven’t beaten anybody, and they’ve lost to terrible teams. With no ACC or halfway decent win to speak of, it is very clear that these guys belong at the bottom.

But what would you expect from an offense averaging 15.7 points a game? Funny enough, the defense is halfway decent, but the offense is pathetic. Kind of proves that you have to have some type of offense to win football games. This is something that had to be expected from Clawson this year, though. Offenses always take time to develop under him, and his first year is always a loss, regardless of where he is coaching. Demon Deacons fans have to know that, so given a year or two this should get better.

But it won’t get better this year. Boston College, Clemson, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and Duke are still on the schedule, and they are all likely losses. The only hope is that Syracuse is on the slate for this Saturday, and it’s a chance for Wake to show that it might not be the worst team in the ACC.

Given the way they’ve looked so far, though, they clearly are.
