Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

For the second straight week, the Texas A&M Aggies have given us reasons to be significantly concerned about them. Let’s call it what it is: they didn’t ever belong in either game with Mississippi State or Ole Miss. Both of those were blowout losses, South Carolina no longer looks like a good win, and they barely beat Arkansas. But they still belong here because they do belong ahead of Arkansas, and the blowout win over South Carolina is still good enough. It looks slightly better than anything LSU has done so far.

Kenny Hill was once again not “Trill,” though, and he’s raising huge questions about how good he is when he’s under pressure. To be fair, this is a young, very good quarterback who is only going to get better. But for right now, going after Hill is the way to make him not look like a Heisman candidate. The Aggies obviously still have a weak rush defense, and teams want to exploit that as well while they still can.

With Alabama up next, a third straight loss could be coming for this team, which is obviously going to knock it off the face of the Earth in terms of the excitement we had about these guys early in the year. Then Auburn, LSU, and Missouri are still on the horizon.

This team is good enough to jump significantly up this list, but it could also fall back down if things don’t go well. We’ll have to wait and see.
