Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

The Auburn Tigers have the best resume of any 1-loss team in college football right now. For that, a road loss to a great Mississippi State team can’t be held too harshly against them. They still have impressive wins against Arkansas, LSU, and Kansas State. Those are enough for us to still keep them very high on our SEC Power Rankings, just as we did with them in our college football Top 25. And knowing that they gave away a lot of plays against the Bulldogs shows how good they are.

The Auburn defense is still a reason to be encouraged about this team, as it even showed against Mississippi State that it is much better than it was last year. Turnovers set up 38 points. Nick Marshall can still be deadly accurate when he has to make the throw to win the game, but for some reason, he was overthrowing passes in the second half. That’s not likely to happen again, so we are not going to sleep on this team due to one loss.

After this upcoming bye week, they really get to show us how good they are. South Carolina will be the first game, but that’s followed by Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Georgia. With all of those three teams on the slate, we will know exactly where the Tigers stand in these SEC rankings before the final game against Alabama.

And that could change things again. There’s a lot of SEC football left, so don’t get comfortable.
