Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

Everybody stand up and applause. Celebrate the way Derek Mason’s Vanderbilt Commodores did after a thrilling victory over…wait for it…Charleston Southern. Huh? This win further cemented Vanderbilt as by far the worst team in the SEC at 2-5, and it’s not even close. Okay, to be fair, the Buccaneers were 5-0, but that shouldn’t matter.

Vanderbilt still has absolutely no offense. Funny enough, Johnny McCrary and Wade Freebeck were efficient at quarterback, but they were efficient on easy passes. Neither one poses any real threat, and the offense really looked as bad last Saturday as it has all year. The best bit of good news is the defense is sort of starting to get the hang of the 3-4 scheme, but there are still far too many errors that have been made to expect much out of it going forward.

Even playing in the SEC East, there’s not much encouragement for this Commodores team going forward. Missouri, Florida, and Mississippi State are still on the schedule, and the way they’re playing, none of those look like wins. Neither does Tennessee.

This is likely a 9-loss team right now and by far the worst team in the SEC.
