Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 7

So much for getting excited about these Missouri Tigers getting back on track. The loss to Indiana may have been inexplicable, but the win over South Carolina could be just as inexplicable. At least they can be above South Carolina because the beat the Gamecocks. But after getting blown out by Georgia, there’s still not much respect we can give this team at this point in the season. That was just a pathetic performance.

Who invented the theory that Maty Mauk would be able to replace James Franklin so easily? At the same time, where did people get the idea that the Missouri Tigers would be able to replace their defensive line so easily? Yes, Shane Ray is talented, but Gary Pinkel’s squad lost a lot of talent, and you don’t replace it that easily. But back to Mauk. He has now completed well below 50 percent of his passes for two straight SEC games, and he looked pathetic every way possible.

And if he doesn’t get better, Missouri could be in trouble down the road. Florida isn’t great but has a good enough defense to give him trouble, and Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Arkansas are still on the schedule. With all of those teams, Missouri could fall to near the bottom of the East.

And for right now they’re near the bottom of our power rankings.
