Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 7

We can certainly say that Purdue Boilermakers fans have something to be excited about now. Darrell Hazell’s team has finally moved out of its spot at the bottom of the Big Ten Power Rankings, slowly climbing up the class system of the Big 12. Yes, they still belong near the bottom at 3-4 and 1-2 in the conference, but this team isn’t getting blown out anymore. And it has stolen a win.

The Boilermakers still have serious issues on defense, giving up 30 points per game, but they have gotten much better in that regard. And the offense has taken off, which might force Hazell to switch his style up and go to more of a high-scoring team this year instead of the ball-control team he wants to be. Austin Appleby has been very reliable at quarterback the past two games, and Akeem Hunt has stepped up huge at running back while Danny Anthrop has turned into a superstar go-to receiver.

Okay, we’ll pump the brakes, but you have to be excited about where this team is going. With Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Northwestern all up next, this team likely won’t sniff a bowl game this year. But the improvement is showing, and it has made the future look a lot brighter.

So very soon, the Boilermakers could be moving up this list.
